making my adobe 5.0 compatible with 4.05 readers

I have been creating documents using adobe reader 5.0 and emailing them out to my employees. While some can open the documents and enter data onto the forms, some cannot print the document while others can. All of them have adobe 4.05. Some can print the completed forms but the text is often higher or lower than I originally program. Is there a way to format the document to be compatible with other adobe reader versions - specifically 4.05. I create a template using Word 2000, convert it to adobe through the distiller icon on my tool bar and open the adobe file. I then program boxes on the template and designate the exact area of the template that is to have each specific box. When I print it on my printer, it comes out great, but when my boss or another employee prints it out on their computer it either prints high onto the template's text or doesn't print at all.
