I have XP SP2 installed. I have an AMD 4000+ with 3 gig of Ram. I Tried to instal the latest version 8 Adobe Reader but it would not because it kept saying it couldn't write a value to the registry.(Error 1406. Could not write value to key \AcroExch.XDPDoc\shell\Print\command.)Doing a search in regedit I dont seem to have this key in my registry. This happened when trying to install v 7.0 and 6.0 too. I eventually got v 5.0 sort of installed. It actually did not finish the install but I did not get this error message. I then rebooted my machine and it is was sort of installed.
I say sort of because it reads PDF files but when I try to download any like my bank Statements (which are PDF) I get this error message
There is a problem with Adobe Acrobay/Reader. Please Exit Acrobat/Reader and Try again.
Of course exiting is of no help for the problem.
So Im stuck! Does anyone have any idea what is going on and Why I cant do a clean install of any version of Adobe?
